Untitled, undated article; original source unknown. Extracted from the
newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.

"Aunt Mary Swindell, 86 years old and blind, was seriously if not
fatally burned at the residence of her son, W.W. Swindell, five and a
half miles northwest of here, Tuesday evening about 4 o'clock. The aged
lady smokes, and someone of the family, after lighting her pipe for her,
left her to enjoy her smoke. Fire from the pipe dropped on her clothing
with the above result. Since writing the above we learn that Mrs.
Swindell died Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Mr. W.E. Swindell of
Huntsville, who was on his way out, informed us of the sad death."
