Sudden Death.
"We are sorry to learn of the sudden death of Esq. H. Maupin, of Union
township, which occurred on Saturday night. It seems that on that night
Mr. Maupin ate a hearty supper, and was in his usual health. Soon after
supper, he dropped from his chair - dead! without a moment's warning.
We understand that he died of apoplexy. He was in his 76th year, and
was one of the best and most substantial citizens of Monroe county. At
the time of his death, he was a Justice of the Peace for Union township,
which office he had held for a number of years. Peace to his ashes."
