DIED.
"Little Irene, daughter of (unknown) and Dora Hale, died March 2, 1896,
of membranous croup, aged two years, two months and four days.
For four days and nights, she battled against the disease, but at last
succumbed. Her lovable nature and unusual brightness drew every one to
her, hence she was idolized by all who knew her. Like a flower that
opened, sent out its aroma and was gone, so was little Irene. The
fragrant life can never be effaced from loved ones. (May) the
heartbroken father and mother find consolation in the (promise) of
Christ.
After a service at the home the little body was laid away in the Paris
cemetery, while the little, tired spirit went to God."
Gem of our hearts, our household pride,
Earth's undefiled;
Could love have saved; thou hadst not died,
Our dear, sweet child!
Humbly we bow to fate's decree,
Yet had we hoped that time would see
Thee mourn for us, not us for thee.
