In Memory of Walter G. Thomas.

"It is with the deepest sorrow and a profound sense of personal loss
that we chronicle the death of our beloved friend and schoolmate, Water
G. Thomas, who died at his home near Madison, March 26, 1895, aged 18
yrs, 4 months and 23 days. His funeral was preached by Rev. J.C.
Carney, after which his remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at
Holliday. Although he had not formally united himself to a new life,
and we believe he faithfully kept the pledge. He was an active and
energetic member of the U.P.S. C.E. and was greatly loved by all of its
members. He was a general favorite at school, and in fact, almost
everywhere he was known. Prompt and energetic in his studies, he had a
bright future before him. We will sadly miss his smiling face and
pleasant voice. He bore his painful illness with great fortitude, never
murmuring but always ready to do anything that was thought best. He
leaves a father, step-mother, three brothers, and many friends and
relatives to mourn his loss. But we would say weep not, dear friends,
as those who have no hope, for although you cannot bring him back, we
will all soon go to him. Remember, he is with the Father, who doeth all
things well. And his loving mother, who has gone on before."

Encircled by his family,

Watched by affections gentle eye

So soft and kind.

His soul to Him who gave it, rose;

Go lead it to it's long respose,

It's glorious rest.

And though our Walter's sun has set,

It's light shall longer round us yet,

Bright, radiant, blest.

Tony and Harry.
