Obituary.
"(Died, at the) residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Evans, on
May 21st 1891, Mrs. Fannie Overstreet. A loved one from us has been
taken, a voice sweet to all has been forever stilled; but we should not
weep as those who have no hope - our loss is her eternal gain. She bore
her suffering with patience, and when she was called to go she
peacefully resigned her spirit to its maker, saying before she died that
she was going home. Father and mother be consoled in your grief, your
loved one has only gone before where we may all meet some day where
parting shall be no more. Husband, weep not; it was hard to be parted
so soon, but live so you may meet her in that bright home above."
Oh, can it be that Fannie has left us -
Her sweet face we see no more
They've laid her in that lonely churchyard,
Where many friends have gone before.
She sleeps in peace, our loved one sleeps,
God bade his angels come
And bear her ransomed spirit up
To her eternal home.
She sleeps in peace, O parents dear
Sad, sad, to say farewell.
But Fannie has gone to dwell with God,
Farewell dear Fannie farewell.
She is at rest her body sleeps,
But Fannie lives above
With sisters dear who've gone before
Where all is joy and love.
She's gone, our darling's gone,
All fell bereft and mourn
We miss her, O we miss her,
But she is safe at home.
A Friend.
