Untitled, undated article; original source unknown. Extracted from the
newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.

"Died, Jan. 2nd, 1889, at the advanced age of some 83 years, Mrs.
Minerva Brown. Deceased was a daughter of Joseph Bryan, on of the
founders of Bryan Station in Kentucky, and a niece to Daniel (Boone).
She was married to James Brown about the year 1830 and (unknown) moved
to Louisville, Ky., shortly after. She came to Missouri with her father
in the fall of 1835 and settled on the old Bryan farm where she died.
Deceased joined the Christian church in 1850 and died a member of the
church at this place. She had been a sufferer for some four years past
on account of an abscess on her breast which was the immediate cause of
her death. Five children, together with a large number of grandchildren
mourn her loss. Her children are Mrs. Susan Cook, of Fort Scott,
Kansas; Mrs. Mary Todd, of Opilus, Kansas; Mrs. Martha Davis of Moberly,
Mo; Mrs. Zarah Dodd and Mrs. Mollie Hill, living at the old homestead
north of Madison. The remains of the deceased were interred at Madison
cemetery last Thursday and were followed to (their last) resting place
by many old friends and acquaintances. Our old (citizens) are passing
away. May her soul rest in peace."
