In Memory of our Loved Sister.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Pure the life
and tranquil the death of our beloved sister, who has passed (to) the
blessed realities of a home she so often pictured and loved to
contemplate. On the morn of Jan. 23, 1892, our dear sister, Mrs. Kate
E. Dickerson, aged 60 years, heart-broken and weary of the vanities of
life, her frail body and tired body and tired spirit spread its wings
and passed over the dark waters to peace and rest. Thus has one of the
noblest Christian lifes gone out. Although obscured by poverty, robbed
of all that was dear in life, still will her sweet Christian character
and virtues live with us. Earth has no purer life; letting her light
shine, scattering deeds of kindness and love, her heart was weary of
life's burdens and she has entered into rest, sweet rest."
Rest sweet sister, tis eventide,
Thy life's a web falls, tis finished here,
We'll meet thee on the other side
And know thee as our sister dear.
Above thy grave the violets wave
To me the dearest spot on earth
Rest besides thy loved ones grave,
There no more will strife have birth.
When fervent longings away my soul
Look from thy sacred (sphere) of rest,
As a guardian spirit my way control,
Then will I be supremely blest.
(Farewell) sweet sister, a last adieu;
God grant this prayer when life is o'er
That I may come in mercy there to you
And dwell in love forever more.
A Sister.
