"Died, at her home up north of this place, Thursday morning last, of
inflammatory rheumatism, Mrs. Frances Sumpter, aged 54 years, 9 months
and 7 days. Deceased has been confined to her bed for some five weeks
and suffered intensely during the time. She had been a member of the
Presbyterian church up to about nine years ago, when she joined the M.R.
church, south, in Madison and had lived a Christian ever since. Her
remains were interred at Holliday cemetery on Friday March 29th, after
funeral services at the Methodist church here by Rev. J.T. Moreman. She
leaves a husband and several step-children together with a large circle
of friends to mourn her departure and to whom we extend our sympathy."
