newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.

"H.H. Maxey whose serious illness was noted in these columns last week,
died at his home south of town Sunday afternoon and after the funeral
services at the home, by Eld. E.M. Richmond, his remains were laid away
to rest in the old Swindell burying ground.

Mr. Maxey was an old pioneer citizen of Monroe county, he having located
her about 1847, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was
something over 76 years of age, at the time of his death, and had been
failing for some two years previous. He leaves a wife and six children
and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. Peace to his
ashes."
