Thanks for your reply, Mike. That sounds like an interesting possibility.
Is the road passible at all? What road does it cross or branch from?

Here is some more information about the area.

On the 1876 plat map of Monroe County, this land was owned by my great great
granduncle, James Elliot Cox and was bordered on the north and west by land
belonging to Donaldson family members. On the south it was bordered by land
owned by J. C. Greening and on the east by land owned by J. H. Hobbs (my
gggrandfather).

In 1898 the plat map shows J. M. Painter as the owner of the land and it is
still bordered by the Donaldson and Greening land owners. On the east the
land owner is M. B. Vanschoiack, my great grandaunt. Her father, J. H.
Hobbs died in 1896.

Here is an obituary, courtesy of Kathleen Wilham, that I obtained indicating
that there was a family plot. I found that Amelia Cox Pollard is presently
buried with her husband H. O. B. Pollard, in the Stoutsville Cemetery, so
she must have been moved at some time from the family plot.

4 August 1905 PARIS MERCURY
Mrs. Amelia Cox Pollard died 20 July, she was buried on the old Cox farm
east of Stoutsville. She was born
19 Oct 1843 at age 20 married H O B Pollard. She had 7 children, 4 are
alive. Mr. Pollard died 7 May 1901.
She has been down since 20 July 1897.

The land where the family cemetery may be was originally owned by my
ggggrandfather, Jonathan Cox, d. Oct. 1853 who was married to Nancy (or Ann)
Huston d. 5 July 1848, sister of William Huston, who was a large land owner
in Monroe County, d. 8 Sept. 1881, and who is buried in Big Creek Cemetery
in Ralls County.

Just hoping this will strike a chord with someone.
Ginny
