"Died. - At her home in this city, Friday evening, Nov. 23, 1894, after
a weeks' illness, Mrs. S.E. Farrell, aged 75 years, 1 month and 20 days.
Spicy Ervin was born in Madison county, Kentucky, September 3rd, 1817,
and was united in marriage with Daniel Farrell, April 16th , 1839. To
that happy union there was born seven children, three having died in
infancy. There now only survives three: John, Samuel and Solon. Aunt
Spicy, as she was commonly called, confessed her faith in Christ with
her husband in Kentucky, in their early married life. She has been a
constant student of the New Testament scriptures for many years, and in
her last hours she often called on her Redeemer to save her soul. She
was the surviving member of her father's family and she is now happy in
the Lord. Her remains were followed to Oak Grove cemetery by a large
concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends, where they were laid to
rest after a funeral discourse by Rev. J.C. Carney."
