Obituary.

"Departed this life January 13th, 1887, Janie Callaway, nee Janie
Egleston. Once again we are called upon to give up a dear soul, this
time a dear sister. But we can only say, "Thy will be done, O, God!"
It is indeed hard for us to say this; but we know she is happier and
much better off. I was prevented from being with her in her last
sickness, but was told b those who were present that she died happy and
full of faith in our dear Savior, and that she told them all good-bye,
and told them to tell us all to meet her in Heaven. God grant that by
His grace we may so live as to meet all of our dear departed ones in
that world so fair. She was a sweet creature, always willing to endure
any pain or trouble that she thought to be the Lord's will. To my
brother and myself, she was a mother. Her husband has lost a loving
wife, her baby has lost a loving and devoted mother. We will miss thee,
gentle sister; none but God can know our sorrow."

Sister, thou wast mild and lovely,

Gentle as the summer breeze,

Pleasant as the air of evening,

As it floats among the trees.

Dearest sister, thou hast left us;

Here thy loss we deeply feel;

But 'tis God had bereft us;

He can all our sorrows heal.

Yet again we hope to meet thee

When the day of life is tied;

Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee

Where no farewell tear is shed.

Sister Rosa.
