"Obituary. - 'Asleep in Jesus,' such is the condition of our beloved
sister, Effie A. Dawson, who departed this life Dec. 21, 1900. She
united with the Christian Church at the early age of 14 and lived a
consistent Christian life. She was always found in her place at church
services and her chief delight was in serving the Lord. The writer knew
her for 7 years and can say that she was faithful to the talent that had
been entrusted to her care. We will miss her genial face, her smiling
countenance and her tuneful voice which always joined in the worship at
old Union, but her soul is with her dear Savior, resting, yes, quietly
resting, till the great resurrection morn. It is true her life on this
earth was short, only 23 years, 10 months and 13 days, but that is long
enough o live if in that time we prepare for eternity. The question is
not how long, but how well.

The grave of dear Effie was hardly closed up till we were called to
mourn the decease of her ear brother, Edward H. Dawson. He too was a
member of the Church of Christ and there was no better boy in all the
country. Edward was only 21 years, 6 months and 25 days of age. He had
confessed his Savior at the age of 18 and remained true and faithful to
the end.

How our hearts go out to the bereaved family, consisting of father,
mother, sister and four brothers; their sorrow is not the sorrow of
despair. How very sad it is to die out of Christ. But to the Christian
as he cuts loose from this earth a bright home awaits him in the
presence of Christ. (Read John 14,1)"
