Death of Mrs. Irving Meals.
"The remains of Mrs. Irving Meals, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Combs
of this vicinity, were brought here Tuesday from her late home at Kansas
City, where she died Sunday from the scarlet fever. Oma, as she was
familiarly called, was raised near Madison, and because of her sweet
disposition and many noble qualities had many warm friends here. Her
life was a short but a well spent one. By her death a devoted wife, a
tender mother, an obedient daughter and a kind sister's chair is left
vacant.
Oma Lee Combs was born in Moberly, Dec. 23, 1874, married to Irving
Meals Dec. 21, 1898, died Nov. 3, 1901, aged twenty six years, ten
months and ten days. She leaves behind a husband, one child, father and
mother, a sister, four brothers, and a large circle of relatives and
friends to mourn her untimely death. We deeply sympathize with the
bereaved family and extend our heartfelt condolence in this sad hour.
Funeral services were conducted at the grave by Elder J.B. Briney of the
Christian church of which church Oma was a member, after which her body
was consigned to the earth in the Madison cemetery."
