Untitled, undated article; original source was the Moberly Democrat.
Extracted from the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs.
Nannie Brown of Madison, Missouri.
"(.Unable to read first several lines) Lilly and Miss Irma Ragland
(will) be married at the bride's house near Madison, Monroe County, on
Wednesday, July 17th. The prospective groom (is a) Randolph County boy,
having been reared in the neighborhood of Levick's Mill. He was for
several years a teacher in the Moberly high school and later
superintendent of the Unionville, Putnam county schools. Three years
ago he was elected circuit clerk of this county, and in both pedagogic
and official capacities, his services have proven entirely satisfactory.
He is intelligent, whole-souled, congenial, and numbers his friends by
the extent of his acquaintance. No more deserving young man lives in
Randolph county to-day, and the Democrat congratulates him up on the
prize he has drawn from the matrimonial lottery.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Frank Ragland, a prominent and
influential citizen of near Madison, and is a young lady of many charms,
physically and intellectually. She is well educated, good looking,
modest, practical and refined, a combination of excellencies rarely
attained. The Democrat extends ante-nuptial congratulations and trusts
that the future of this worthy young couple may be fraught with the
fullest measure of happiness and prosperity."
