Obituary.
"Died, at the home of her father, James W. Hogan, one mile south of
Madison, Mo., at 3 o'clock, p.m., on Monday, March 21 st, 1887, of
consumption, Miss Nancy Jane Hogan, (known as Cora) aged 20 years, 5
months and 5 days. She was born near Winchester, Kentucky, on the 16th
day of October, 1866. She was a member of the Christian church at
Middle Grove, and in the cemetery at that place her remains were laid to
rest."
Dear Nancy Jane, I loved thee well;
Thy name I love to hear;
No one of earth can tell thy worth,
No heart conceive how dear.
Thy name will shed its fragrance still
All down my weary road;
And sweetly smooth the rugged hill
That leads me up to God.
But, oh, my child, so young, so sweet,
The paths of peace to tread;
Thy tender spirit, pure and sweet,
Is upward drawn to God.
How could I bear from thee to part
If you had never told
(Unknown) you were ready and prepared
(To) meet our loving God.
James W.
Hogan
