Undated article; probably extracted from the Monroe Appeal. Extracted
from the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie
Brown of Madison, Missouri.

Chowning-Giddings.

"J. Scott Chowning and Miss Lillian Giddings were married at the home of
the bride in Union township at high noon, Wednesday, June 19, Eld. E.M.
Richmond officiating. Immediately after the ceremony they drove to the
station and left for Buffalo to attend the exposition. Miss Giddings is
an unusually popular and highly accomplished young lady and like the
practical Monroe county girl that she is she knows all about making home
the most attractive place in the world. Mr. Chowning is the senior
member of the big dry goods firm of Chowning & Atterbury of Madison. He
has all the business qualities of a veteran merchant, is honorable,
manly and energetic and in every way worthy of the excellent young lady
who has become his life companion. The Appeal extends congratulations."
