Undated article which appears to be part of a series; original source
unknown. Extracted from the newspaper article collection started in
1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of Madison, Missouri.

"James Maupin, carpenter, first saw the light of day in Albemarle
county, Virginia, in 1836. Came to Monroe county, Missouri, in 1853,
locating in Union township on a farm about five miles south-west of
Madison. In 1855, moved to Callaway county, this State, and began work
at carpentering. Moved to Saline county in 1875, and in 1880 located in
Madison, continuing to follow his trade in the town and surrounding
country. Was married in Madison in 1868 to Miss Ellen Grove. They have
two daughters. Was made a Mason in Madison lodge of the order in 1868;
his membership being afterward transferred to another lodge. Is a good
workman, a peaceable law-abiding citizen, and a member of the Christian
church."
