"Again the messenger, death has (unknown), taken in the bloom of his
life, one of the most precious and loved ones away from us. Grover C.
Jones departed this life at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.A.
Jones, Feb. 21, 1903. Born June 8, 1888, age 14 years, 8 months and 12
days. He became obedient to the faith at a meeting held at Granville by
the pastor, C.C. Lockhart, at the age of 12 years and remained faithful
until his death. What a consolation it is to us who grieve our loss,
that there is no doubt but that he has a far brighter home than the one
he left on earth. In his pureminded lovliness, death found him with his
lamp trimmed and burning brightly.

He always made it a point to seek the acquaintance of preachers, and
despised bad habits of any kind. During his Christian life and through
all of his suffering his faith never wavered and when death came he was
ready to go to meet two brothers and two sisters who had gone on before.
It had been only 4 months and 27 days since his sister Lulu had passed
away. He was king and generous in his disposition, quiet and modest in
his manners and loved by all who knew him. His remains were laid to
rest at the Holliday cemetery, Elder J.B. Weldon conducting the
services. He leaves a father, mother, one brother and one sister, and a
host of relatives and friends to mourn his death."

Weep not for dear Grover,

His gentle spirit fled;

He sweetly sleeps with Jesus

Amongst the silent dead.

Shed not one tear of sorrow,

Around his silent tomb;

Think what a lovely flower,

In Heaven we have to bloom.

Think of him as with the loved ones,

Who have gone on before,

Where his feet can never wander,

Where trials never come,

Thou hast loved us long and well,

How we miss thee none can tell,

Jesus called thee - all is well;

Farewell, dear brother, farewell.

Jesse Jones.
