Obituary.

“H.H. Burton, the subject of this sketch, departed this life August 21,
1886, (after) a long and tiresome affliction with cancer on his face.
H.H. Burton was born in Monroe county, Mo., April 29th, 1823, and at the
time of his death was 63 years, 3 months and 22 days of age. He was
married Sept. 11th, 1848, to Anmariah McKinney, of which union three
children were born – James M., Ambrose William and Oberialia Alice – the
two younger of whom died August 17th, 1858; and his wife Anmariah, died
August 25th, 1858. On June 28th, 1860, he was married to Susan E.
Adkisson, and of this union there was born one child – Laura F. –
leaving two children, James M. Burton and Laura F. Burton.

He had been a member of the Christian church about forty years, and was
a good and kind-hearted man. For about four years he had kept his room
almost constantly and suffered greatly from the terrible affliction
which had fastened itself upon him. The funeral was held at his
residence, 2 ½ miles southeast of Madison, on Sunday, and the remains
were laid to rest in the cemetery at Union church, Elder Featherston
conducting the services.”
