Undated article; original source probably the Madison Times. Extracted
from the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie
Brown of Madison, Missouri.
Atterbury-Royer.
Harry B. Atterbury and Miss Agnes A. Royer were married at the home of
the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Royer, Wednesday morning, June
21, at ten o'clock, the father of the bride officiating. The wedding
was a very quiet, though pretty one, only the immediate relatives and a
few friends being present. A solo, 'The Message of the Rose,' by the
bride's sister Miss Vinnie Royer, proceeded the entrance of the bridal
party, composed of Miss Woolery, of Mexico, and Dr. Elliot Revels, of
Kansas City; attendants followed by the (unable to read next few lines.)
the lives of this happy couple.
The bride wore a traveling dress of drab voile, while the groom wore the
usual conservative black. Immediately after the ceremony, a sumptuous
breakfast was served. The party then drove to Madison where they took
the train for Portland, Oregon, expecting to remain a month in the West.
H.B. Atterbury is a member of the firm of Chowning & Atterbury of this
place, and by his upright dealings and kind and courteous treatment of
all has won a name both in a social and business way. Miss Royer is a
young woman of a sweet disposition, having the qualities which go to
make an ideal woman. This worthy couple starts married life with bright
prospects for future, and the Times with their many friends wishes for
them a realization of all their hopes.
The following is a list of the presents received: Chocolate set, J.E.
Royer, Jr.; cake plate, Elizabeth Grimes; bonbon dish, Miss Nannie
Furnish; chocolate pitcher, Mr. and Mrs Ozias; cake server, Miss Ozias;
Mexican drawn work, Miss Lena Woolery; tea set, Mr. and Mrs. Kelley
Wilkerson; tea set, Mesdames Beulah and Alma Atterbury; steel range, Mr.
and Mrs. C.N. Atterbury; lace curtains, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Noel; room
size rug, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Chowning; (.unable to read rest of
