An Aged Citizen Dead.

"About five o'clock Saturday evening, C.P. Love passed away at his home
in this place. He was nearing the eighty fifth mile stone of his life's
journey and for the past year had been quite feeble, being confined to
his bed the greater portion of his time, and while his death was not
unexpected, the news that the end had come was a shock to this community
where he has lived so long and where he has so many warm friends.

C.P. Love was born in Indiana in 1821 and came to this state when quite
young, living on a farm just east of town until a few years ago when he
moved to Madison. He was married twice - first to Miss Anna Weatherford
and to this union five girls were born; two of these, Mesdames Ze Harper
and Mollie Rogers, survive him. His second wife was Miss Sarah Ann
Adkinson, and to this union nine children wee born, six boys and three
girls; four boys and two girls of this marriage, and the wife are left.

Twenty eight years ago he joined the Christian church and to the day of
his death lived a consistent life. Of C.P Love it may be truly said he
was 'A man in whom there was no guile.' He believed implicitly in
practicing the Golden Rule. His friends were many of enemies he had
none. He was a kind husband and has left a heritage of honesty,
truthfulness and sobriety to his children, which is far better than
riches.

His funeral service was (preached at) the Christian church, Monday
afternoon by Rev. Rooker, the presence of a large concourse of his
neighbors and friends, all his children being present, save three sons
who live in Nebraska and who found it impossible to get here. The
remains were laid to rest in the cemetery here by the side of the loved
ones who had preceded him to the Better Land. We extend our deepest
sympathy to the bereaved family."
