Death of John Meals.

"John Meals, a well known and highly respected citizen of Monroe county,
living north of Madison, died at his home Monday afternoon, at 3 o'clock
of general debility, aged seventy-two years. His funeral was preached
at the family residence Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock by Rev. Duvall,
of the Presbyterian Church, and the interment took place at the Madison
cemetery. No man stood higher, or was more beloved in the community
where he lived that John Meals and he has left to his nine living
children the heritage of a good name, a heritage that is far better than
great riches. To the bereaved (family) we extend deepest (sympathy)."
