Mrs. Barton Dead.
"Mrs. Bettie Barton, died at her home in Holliday, Sunday afternoon at
4:30 o'clock after many months suffering from cancer. Mrs. Barton was
well and favorably known to many of our citizens, having spent her early
married life in our little city, but has made her home in Holliday for
the past twelve or fifteen years, where she was loved and respected by
all. Aunt Bettie, as she was familiarly called, not because of her age,
but as a title of respect, was a quiet, unassuming woman with a good
word for all, always cheerful, looking on the bright side of life which
made it a pleasure to be in her company. In all of her sickness she was
uncomplaining and seemed to think of the happiness of others. A short
funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church, Monday afternoon
conducted by Rev. Howerton, in the presence of many relatives and
friends after which her remains were laid to rest in (rest of article
missing)."
