article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of Madison,
Missouri.



Obituary.



"Samuel M. Bounds, born October 26, 1849, passed to the 'Land that is
fairer than day' March 26, 1898, aged 48 years and 5 months. Bro.
Bounds united with the church of Christ about 20 years ago, since which
he has lived an unostentatious but devoted Christian life. He was
married to Julia F. Smith Dec. 18,, 1870, since which, several years
ago, she and their little girl preceded him over the Silent River to the
shadowless shore. He was married March 30, 1892, to Anna E. Reavis, who
with their little girl, are left to mourn their loss in (his) departure.
Besides these he (unknown), bereaved and sad, three (unknown) and one
devoted widowed (unknown) whom he was most tender (unknown) and to whose
little boy (unknown) devoted and kind as a (unknown) (should) be. The
community (unknown) valued and useful citizen, (the church) a devoted
member, the (unknown) and sister, an affectionate (brother), the wife a
faithful husband (and) his little daughter a loving father. He was
called away suddenly but he was ready - he was spiritually equipped for
the journey, (laid) his earthly burdens down (and) accepted his
promotion when (he was) called up higher. - C.H.S."
