Extracted from the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs.
Nannie Brown of Madison, Missouri.
Arthur L. Stiles, 88, of Madison Dies; Funeral Saturday
"Madison - Arthur L. Stiles, 88, died about 3 o'clock yesterday
afternoon at the Pleasant View Home in Huntsville where he was a patient
only a short time. Mr. Stiles was born April 17, 1868, in Clark. He
was married to the former Miss Anna Taylor Burton, who survives. Also
surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Doyle, near Madison; a grandson,
Ronnie Doyle; two brothers, W.L. Stiles of St. Petersburg, Fla., and
Joseph P. Stiles of Keytesville; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Lessly of
Higbee, Mrs. Elsie Alderson of Moberly, and Mrs. Ada Colman of
Englewood, Calif. Two sons preceded him in death. Mr. Stiles, a member
of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, had served as a deacon there. He
retired from farming in 1938, moving to Woodlawn. The family moved to
Madison about four years ago. Mr. Stiles was a patient in Woodland
Hospital in Moberly three weeks before going to Pleasant View Home. The
body is at the Thompson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted 3
o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Oak Grove Baptist Church and burial
will be in an adjoining cemetery."
