"Fred Simon, 65, of wet of Granville, died Wednesday at 12:15 in an
ambulance enroute to Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville. Mr. and Mrs.
Simon were on their way home from Shelbina when he suffered a heart
attack near the home of Vivian, Vance, north of Paris. Mrs. Simon
grabbed the wheel and stopped the car. She telephoned a physician from
the Vance home, who started to the hospital in the ambulance. According
to the doctor records, he had not had a previous heart condition.
Surviving with the widow, the former Frank Austin of Granville, are two
daughters, Mrs. Eddie Harrison of southwest of Shelbina, and Mrs. Cloyce
Menefee of Troy; three grandsons; and one sister, Mrs. Della Rash of
Granville."
