Henry E. Wood
"Henry Eli Wood, who would have been 90 in February, died at his home in
Madison, Monday night, after having been in failing health for several
years. He had taken the flu about ten days ago, and in his weakened
condition, would not rally from it. He was the son of the late John and
Mary Jackson Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Wood farmed for many years near
Granville, and moved to Madison 14 years ago. Surviving are his wife,
the former Lydia Lindsey; four children, Mrs. Frank (Ethel) Whaley near
Granville, Mae Wood of the home, Enos of Madison, and Russell of
Holliday; three grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; four sisters,
Mrs. Fannie Francis of St. Louis, Mrs. Nannie White and Mrs. Laura White
of Shelbina and Mrs. Charles (Ida) McGahen of Paris; many nieces and
nephews and several half-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Thompson Funeral Home at Madison
by the Rev. S.B. Owings. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery."
