Mrs. Alma Davis Dies Suddenly at Home Here
"Mrs. Alma Davis, widow of W.E. (Pete) Davis, was found dead at her home
Tuesday morning around 11:30 o'clock by her daughter, Mrs. Ella Maud
Johnston, of Moberly. A sister, Mrs. Pearl Johnston, had talked to Mrs.
Davis twice that morning over the telephone before her sudden death.
Mrs. Davis, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams, was born
August 26, 1880, southwest of Paris. She was the wife of W.E. Davis,
who died eight years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ella
Maud Johnston, Moberly; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Johnston, near Madison;
and one niece, Mrs. Pauline Dwershak, Memphis, Tenn. Preceding her in
death were her husband, W.E. Davis; her parents; one brother, John
Franklin Williams; and one sister, Mrs. Clara D. Smith. Mrs. Davis was
a member of the Mt. Airy Baptist Church. Services were held this
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Thompson Mackler Chapel by Rev. John
Milhfeld. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery."
