Funeral Services for Mrs. Annie Elsberry

"Mrs. Annie Elsberry, 74, died about six o'clock Tuesday night at the
Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, where she had been a patient since Sunday.
Mrs. Elsberry had been in bad health for several years. She was born
November 1, 1881, south of Madison and had lived in Madison community
most of her life. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Frank Ragland, and
a brother, Ernest Riley, Madison. Her husband, Walter Elsberry,
preceded her in death. Her body lay in state at the Thompson Funeral
Home until the hour of the funeral. The funeral was held at the Madison
Christian Church, 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Cornn in charge. Services
were carried out according to a written request left by Mrs. Elsberry.
She asked for one of two hymns to be sung by Mrs. Lyle Barnes and Mrs.
John Duvall, to be accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Devenport. Mrs. Lennos
Bryant filled Mrs. Devenport's place and Mrs. C.W. Cornn, took Mrs.
Duvall's place as it was impossible for them to fulfill the request.
She asked that Del Miles, Garland Elsberry, Del Stone, John Duvall,
Gerald Elsberry and Gene Riley be (pallbearers) and that Miss Jennie
Bloodworth, Miss Bess Baker, Mrs. Eliza Davis and Mrs. Mattie Davis take
care of the flowers."
