Charles A. Holohan, Farmer Dies



"Funeral services for Charles A. Holohan were held Monday afternoon at
2:00 p.m. at the Madison Christian Church with Christian Minister, Rev.
John Buck officiating. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Charles A.
Holohan, 74, of Madison passed away Saturday, June 6 th, 1959 at 4:05
o'clock p.m. at the Whitaker Hospital where he had been a patient for
the past few weeks. Prior to having been taken to the Whitaker hospital
he had been a patient at the Woodland Hospital for several (weeks) due
to a fractured hip he received in a fall at his home south of Madison.
Mr. Holohan had been hospitalized eight weeks to the day his death
occurred. He was the son of Mary Belle West and Martin Van Buren
Holohan, born March 12th, 1885 in Monroe County. Mr. Holohan was
married to Carrie Josephine Hayden, Jan. 16th, 1907. To this union were
born two sons, Gail Holohan and Elwood Holohan who are both engaged in
farming south of Madison. Mr. and Mrs. Holohan have spent their entire
life in the Madison vicinity having lived at the present residence the
past 45 years. He united with the Christian Church at Tulip in
1907,later moving his membership to Madison. He was one of seven boys,
being preceded in death by one brother Roy Holohan several years ago.
Besides his wife and two sons, he I survived by five brothers, Claude
and Allen of Madison, Will of Moberly, ray of Clark and Rollie of Idaho.
Also four grandchildren, Jimmie Holohan of Jefferson City, Mrs. James
Brooks of Moberly, Bob Holohan and Keith Holohan of Madison and two
great granddaughters, Rhonda Holohan of Jefferson City and Terry Holohan
of Madison and several nieces and nephews.

Charles A. Holohan, Monday afternoon at the Madison Christian Church:

A.B. Clawson, Mr. and Mrs.Arthur Elsbury; Mrs. Elmer Wehmeyer, all of
Moberly; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Cairo; John Foster, Perry; Elsie
Perkins, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Logan Webb and Clarence Garnett of
Paris; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ashworth and Church, St. Louis; Mrs. Everett
Short, Mrs. Arthur Dudfield of Hunstville; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hayden
and family, Centralia; Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Wilson, Shelbina; and Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd Howard, Moberly.
