HI MORGAN county List..1st..is there anyone on this list that had a
MOORE &
MAYES and IVEY marriage in their family?? about 1857-1862??. the below
are in
CLAIBORNE & GRAINGER & KNOX
counties,TN,.you may have a birth in MORRISTOWN,GRAINGER county,TN,
HAMBLEN county was formed from GRAINGER.. ( NOTE the IVEY info is
recent,i have only the info at bottom of this post.) with heavy
ties to RAY county,MO..&
possibly HILL & CLAY
counties,TX thru my great
grandfather JOHN or JAMES
MOORE.we are thinking this as
1 of their sons
said his dad was from TX as
well as he himself.and my
great uncle
married a ROSA BROWN,seems
her family ties are to these
2 TX
counries.CLAY & HILL,TX.. there may be
MAYES/MAYS there to.if so and
they are tied to
TN/NC/ & HENRY county,VA.any
old photos of these names
please let me see
to compare features. any
MAYES on here? i'm
hoping someone will have an
old 1 from
1800s early 1900s thats
scanned,please share!.my
great granny far as
research has went was NANCY
MAYES daughter of STERLING &
SARAH CARR
MAYES.they lived near
Sandlick in Claiborne county.
& are buried
there.a lot of MAYES are in
GRAINGER county.my ggrandma
was born 1845 in
RAY county,MO. Nancy if this
is my
ggma.remarried,someone sent
an e saying in 1882 she
married a BOLIN,she
passed away in 1883.age
38.story in my family has it
she died giving
birth to twins & they died
for lack of milk.i need an
old photo of a
real MAYES to compare to her
3 kids i have pictures of.1
my gramps JOHN
MARION "dobb" MOORE was born in KNOX county,in
BEVERLY. his
brother JAMES HOUSTON,&
sister LIZZI MOORE
TOWNSLEY.she was married to
CHARLES TOWNSLEY til his
death.so any one
with a photo pleas e me!!!!!

Thomas of
Claiborne County.John
Hamilton Ivy moved to
Versailles, Missouri.
His sojourn out here (actually
