While there are 4 Edgecomb Marriott's, there are two Riley Marriott's who are just about 8 years apart from each other.
Riley "Black Bud" Marriott, b. Dec 1852, MO,
was the son of John W. "Big John" Marriott, b. abt 1829, TN and Elizabeth J. "Eliza" "Liza" Roe. Her nickname is "Eliza or Liza" which was pronounced Lou-Iza. She was born abt 1831, in TN.
John W. "Big John" Marriott, b. abt 1829, TN was the son of "old" Edgecomb Marriott, b. abt 1791, VA & Hetti, b. bet. 1800-1810.
Riley "Black Bud" Marriott was married to Bernetta F. "Nettie" Craig
The nicknames are good to keep with the names because it makes it easier to keep them separated. *********************************************************
The other Riley was Riley Marion "Rial" Marriott, was b. 1 Apr 1860. He was the son of Samuel J. "Sam" Marriott, b. 1 Jan 1833, TN & Susan Silvey, b. abt 1836, IL. His father "Sam" Marriott was also the son of "old" Edgecomb & Hetti Marriott. These two Riley Marriotts are first cousins to each other because their fathers were brothers. Riley "Black Bud" was about 8 years older than first cousin Riley Marion "Rial".
