There are no death records for New Madrid Co. before 1910. Possibilities
for a record of a death would include the newspapers and cemetery
records, which generally are just transcriptions of the stones in the
cemetery. You can borrow newspapers on interlibrary loan, or ask for an
obituary from the Missouri Historical Society. Maybe someone on the
mailing list has a book of cemetery transcriptions.

To find out her maiden name, look at the marriage records. I don't
remember if they are on one of the FTM CD's or not, but you can look
those up at the court house in New Madrid. The library is not too far
from the courthouse. The address and hours are on the genweb page.
