My family and I lived just down the river from the Stanley "filling station,"
where the murder took place.  I recall my parents talking about it a lot
because I think my father knew the victim. Do you know there is a photo of Roy E.
Hamilton and Dave Eddy, alias “Eddie Gaymon,” in "Looking Back: A Pictorial
History of New Madrid, Missouri" published by the New Madrid Chamber of
Commerce in 2004? On page 79. In 2006, the Chamber published a second pictorial
book, "Looking Back Again." Margaret Palmer, the current C of C executive
director, was the compiler. This story appears in my book, "Tales Beyond the
Levee: New Madrid, Missouri in History and Legend," which I hope to see in print
