Debra. . .number one.. .don't open any attachments. . .even if from
friends and family. . .number 2. . .Norton antivirus isn't alerting
users to this virus. . .number 3. . .if folks are saying the virus came
from you, it did! and if I were you I would stop protesting so much and
go to www.symantec.com and look up the virus and how to rid your
computer of it.

In the meantime, do us all a favor and unsub from the list until this is
cleared up. Your note was oh-so-cute. . .but it isn't helping to stop
the spread of the virus.

Subject: Unidentified subject!

Having just returned from a short visit with my parents in SW MO I can
assure you it is NOT pleasant to see one's name online as the demonic
virus-spreading agent<g> To be even more strange, it seems odd to me as
well that I would send a virus to people I do not know! Go figure!<g> I
have been an active MONEWTON correspondent for some time and can only
assume that "the list" was the means by which the virus was sent as
having just moved 2500 miles and interviewing for a few jobs, shopping
for a house, moving in, having to send for all belongings in Vancouver,
buying a car and doing a million other things in the past month...I have
not had time to devote to crashing the computers of friends and or
people I do not even know.I have always maintained an active virus
scanning function with Norton Antivirus and/or McAffee so frankly did
not suffer the effect of whatever it was that I supposedly sent to
anyone. I can only say someone may be using my name or something!
Oddly, while!
I!
was supposedly sending people a virus, I had switched over from
CompuServe to a new screename/address and was not even using CompuServe
since early July. (Really wierd, huh?) I have just relocated
approximately 2500 miles and have no idea what sort of weird things have
been occurring online, but I plead "innocence," okay? I now can
successfully access my Compuserve address and found there 135 messages.
Needless to say I question which one it is that I should NOT open in the
event I might send myself the virus I sent when I didn't even know I
could or was sending one last week!(Whew!)

I swear I can only hypothesize that IF you received anything from me, it
was simply through the workings of the MONEWTON-L site...which I love.

So! To anyone else I supposedly sent it to, my apologies. I assure you I
am a responsible, upstanding citizen and bleed red, white and blue...not
computer viruses.

Regards,
Debra Shipman Rowe
Vancouver and now Kansas City
