Janet, I appreciate you being so conversant. I am curious if you know anything much about the means he was taken prisoner as in the possibility of there being anything significant for me as a clue there. I am not sure what it would be...just trying to be thorough. What I mean is that I am thinking that there may be something which will pop up in the literature I read which would show that prisoners going to a certain place and under a certain officer were treated in a particular way more than maybe another way more typical of another officer's manner. I know that sounds dumb...just trying to be thorough and picky.In my case, the individual being taken to a prison was made to walk in front of a horse which was tethered so closely that the horse would step on the back of his ankles and cripple him. Supposedly en route there were MANY soldiers lying by the road who had had the same thing done to them and therefore could no longer walk so they were just left there to die. Have!
you ever read anything in your research of your relative which told of a similar event after one of the battles? (It probably happened all the time...) Just thought I'd throw that one out to see if you knew anything.Deb
