John Dill,
Can not say with certainty but I believe this is the John Ross
you found in the old Ross Cemetery.
1833 John Ross was taxed in Greene Co., MO
1 slave, 4 horses and 5 cattle
John Smith and Rachael Smith were neighbors
1834 John Ross (Rooss) was taxed in Greene Co. MO
3 cattle
Rachael Smith was living next door
from Missouri Marriages before 1840 by Susan Ormesher:
John Ross to Mrs Rachael Smith 4 May 1834 Greene Co., MO
In 1835, John Ross was administrator for the probate of John Smith,
Barry County, Missouri, abstracted and transcribed by W B Landers

Pages 11-13:
John Smith; John Ross, Adm.
Bond: $1000., 19 Nov 1835, John Ross, William Capps, Henry Grindstaff
and Moses Banks, Bondsmen.

William Capps lived in section 30, Twp 26W, Rng 28N where Mt Pleasant,
the first County Seat of Barry County , was located in the SW corner of
present day Lawrence County, one mile from the Newton Co. line.
1840 Census, Benton Twp, Newton Co. MO. (do not have age and sex
breakdown)
1850 Newton Co. Census, page 335b HH 192

Elizabeth 15MO
Pleasant 13MO
Thomas 9MO
Mary Ann 6MO
Alfred Grinstaff13TN
John Gingham21MO
The age of this John Ross seems to match the 1812 birth of
the John Ross that died in 1855.
