Hi Duane Mills!
I have three suggestions for you. The first would be to write to the sexton
at IOOF and request any further information re Ann Carroll and any members of
her family that might be buried there. Mr. Leonard Miller, 332 S.
Washington Street, Neosho, MO 64850.
Second, I would hire someone to do an obit search for Ann Carroll. I just
had one done for seven members of my family, 1890-1962. Five out of the
seven were successful and the cost was reasonable. If you wish to contact me
directly I will give you the email address of my searcher. My email:
Third, I would get into the civil war pension files to see if Ann ever
applied for a widow's pension. She certainly was entitled through both her
husband and sons. Once you obtain the info from the files (what state,
company, rank the solider was in and the pension application number and date)
You can fill out a NATF Form 80 and send it to old military records in
Washington and in about 8 weeks you will receive, for $37.95, the complete
pension record which includes a wealth of information to work on. The form
and address can be obtained from the NARA website.
Hope this is helpful.
