I recently found a Civil War Service Card on the Missouri State Archives
website, of a person I believe to be my ancestor. I hate to spend the money
for his military records at the National Archives, if this isn't the person
I am seeking. Does anyone know if the Missouri State Archives has more in
depth military records, maybe listing date of birth, state born, or maybe
something with the spouse's name?
As you can see, I am not too familiar with the Civil War records. The name
I am searching, John P. Scott, is quite common. The dates of his enlistment
and death coincide with the little information I have on him. He is buried
at the Springfield Nat'l. Cemetery, but I called there, and they do not have
any other information on him. Any ideas on where to proceed from here?
Thank you,
Leslie Boren
