Subject: [Mon] Ebbw Vale-Sharon (Independent) Chapel

Hi Listers,
Having posed the question, I find myself in the dubious position of confirming it!
In a series of papers in the National Library of Wales Journal (1954 Vol. VIII part 4) Hywel Emanuel listed the various Dissenting Chapels which had applied for a licence from the Diocesan Bishop, as required under the Toleration Act of 1689.
The significant entry is:-
Ebbw Vale
1839, April 13: Independent; a chapel called SHARON; Thomas Price of the parish of
Bedwellty; No 197.
So there was an Independent chapel called Sharon in Ebbw Vale, first licenced for worship in 1839!
The next question is:- are there any records of this cause still extant? Does and kind soul know?
