Dear List,

I wonder whether anyone has a connection with the following EVANS family of
Tredegar.

Lewis EVANS, Llanidloes 1837 - 1908 Tredegar, married Ann HARRIS, 1839
Garndiffaith - 1910 Tredegar, in Aberystruth parish church in 1860.
Their children, all born in Tredegar, were:

1) James, 1861-1913, married Cecilia JENKINS, 1863-1904, in Bedwellty parish
church in 1883. They had the following children: Ivor Thomas (1889-1915, no
issue), Gwladys May (1893-1974, issue), Lewis James (b/d 1895), Violet
Blodwen (1896-1926, issue), Brinley (1897-1958, my ancestor) and Horace
Dyfrig (born 1904). All Tredegar.

2) Thomas, 1863-1912. His death was registered by his sister-in-law Clara
Elizabeth DUNNING (nee BOUCHER) of Queen's Square, Tredegar so it would
appear that Thomas was married as she cannot be linked to the spouses of
Thomas' siblings. Thomas lived in Abertysswg.

3) Lewis, 1866-1930, married Mary EVANS (d. 1928) in Bedwellty Register
Office in 1889. They had the following children: Gladys May (1891-1912),
Lilian, Lewis, Florence (b. 1896), Laura Winifred (1898-1900), Richard
(1900-1988, issue), Cyrus (born 1901), Mildred (1904-1997, issue), Oswald
Demetrius (born 1907, issue) and Cyril (1909-1972, issue). All Tredegar.

4) John, born 1868, married Mary Ann LEWIS in Bedwellty parish church in
1891. They had a son Granville Clifford (born 1896). Tredegar.

5) Margaret Jane, 1870-1940, married David James EVANS (d. 1933) in
Bedwellty parish church in 1896. They had the following children: John Lewis
(d. 1899 aged 3), Ernest George (1897-1967, no issue), Gwenllian Ann
(1900-1957, spinster), Mary Jane ("Maisie" 1901-1982, issue) and Winifred
(1904-1985, no issue). All Tredegar. Maisie was a teacher at Georgetown
School and her brother Ernest George was a headmaster there, does anyone
remember them?

6) Winifred, born 1874. Nothing further known.

7) Elizabeth Ann, 1878-1925, married Herbert WILLIAMS (d. 1913) in Bedwellty
parish church in 1900. No known issue.

8) Mary, born 1880. She married a Mr. Jones.

Thanks
James Phillips-Evans
