Subject: Chapel at White Cross, near Caerphilly

Hello,
I am new to the list and was hoping someone might know the location of a
church/chapel called White Cross, perhaps near Caerphilly. The chapel was
most likely in existence in the early nineteenth century, as its members are
mentioned in the formation of Tabor Independent/Congregational Church
(eventually United Reform) in Maesycwmmer, Monmouthshire, which was built in
1829.
As stated in a 1929 history published by the Tabor Congregational Church to
celebrate its 100 year anniversary: "Members from Mynydd Islwyn, Penmain and
White Cross, near Caerphilly, living in the neighborhood [ i.e. Upper
Bedwas, Maesycwmmer] had, probably, been in the habit of coming together for
prayer and fellowship.... The hearths of Gellideg Isaf and Gwerna Fawr,
whose members belonged to the Church at White Cross have undoubted served as
pulpits from which many eloquent sermons were preached...."
I am trying to connect the Edward Richards familiy, related to Gellideg
Isaf, with the Richards of Gwerna Fawr and given the time frame (prior to
1837) must locate possible church records.
Thank you for any help!
Sandi
