Hello Renee,
I decided to have a look at the 1870 Pennsylvania census too -- and I have
the same problem. When searching for any name in Elk Co., I am given only
Millstone township.
Then I tried to go in through a different route: you first go to 1870
census, and rather than enter a name to search for, you choose Pennsylvania
from the states listed below, then individual counties -- when I choose Elk,
the only township I am "allowed" to see is Millstone. If I choose another
township in Elk, I am told I need to upgrade to the World Deluxe
Membership??? That makes no sense. If I have a U.S. subscription (which I
do), then I should be able to see all of the U.S. census, not just parts of
it. I wonder if that is the same problem you're having?

Subject: [Mon] JOHN BARRY family
Hello,
I'm looking for a record of death for a JOHN BARRY who was on the
1851 and 1861 Wales censuses. Age 40 in 1851 Treverhin Monmouthshire, and
Age
55 in 1861 Trevethin, Pontypool, Monmouthshire. In 1851 it lists a street
and
says near Wesleyan chapel or something like that. I can't read the street.
Its Towhills or Towlis or something like that. It says John, his wife
Margaret
(32 in 1851, 46 in 1861) and their 2 sons John and Maurice were born in
Cork
Ireland. Looks like Leeslee, or Lasleeg Loslees??? The 2 daughters were
born,
(Catron) Catherine in Monmouth Carlon ???, and Mary in Monmouth Pontypool.
It appears Catherine was 3 in 1851, and 12 in 1861. Mary was 9 in 1861. It
appears they left Ireland and went to Wales about 1845 to 1848ish?. I have
a
1870 census for Elk county PA that has Catherine 21 and her husband Thomas
Hurley 26 and their son John Hurley age 2(he was born in Wales) and also
had her
brother John 26 and Mother Margaret 50 with them. I am having a problem
locating the census again on Ancestry.com. I can only pull up Millstone Elk
county
PA and nothing else. I am quite frustrated since I was able to obtain it
before and now can't. Because I thought I could access it anytime I did not
save
it previously and now can't get it!! It lists Margaret as a widow in
August
1870 so between 1861 and 1870 John appears to have died, and Margaret and
son John then immigrated with Catherine and her husband Thomas. Maybe the
elder
John Barry came with them but died on ship? Is this a feasible possibility?
I have not been able to find any immigration records for any of them and
I've
been looking for about 4 years. Someone had given me some info on the
brother Maurice before, but I can't seem to locate it. I never had anything
on
Mary, if she married or died? After the 1870 PA census I can nt find John
the son
and Margaret anywhere. I thought they were in Philiadelphia area, but it
turns out it wasn't them. I thought they's stay in the area with Catherine,
who
was in East Deer Allegheny county PA in 1880. Anyway if anyone can help or
send me in the right direction with any of this I'd be eternally greatful.
My
ultimate goal is to somehow find a living Barry descendant.
