Hi Jane
There are only 6 people transcribed as John HATTON, 4 were aged between 0 -
12 and there were 2 adults who lived in Cwmcarvan and Dingestow,
Monmouthshire a fair way from Tredegar.
There is a John Hotton though.(as transcribed, although it could well be
Hatton)

Hope sks can help. Looking for a John HATTON who was the informant on a
death cert in 1862. His address then was Church Street, Tredegar. If
anyone has access could they possibly look up the 1861 census for Tredegar
to see if he is living there then. TIA.
