Yes, I discovered the same thing last night. And I had the same feeling --
that it is not 100% complete. Using the Origins.net 1841 Monmouthshire
census, I have found certain families that I have yet to find on the
Ancestry.com version. I'm sure they're doing a 'soft' testing at the moment
and may not have loaded all the data. Or else, as you say, the index is bad
due to poor transcribing. Imagine looking for Benjamin JONES in 1851 - such
a common surname - and having his surname indexed as JANY!

Hi List,

Maybe some of you already know this, but by "accident" yesterday, I
discovered that Ancestry.com has started to post the 1841 Census. I have
subscriptions to both the US and UK census, and you can't access the '41 by
going into the UK Census Collection and choosing it as they still only have
1851-1901 listed in the drop-down. If you go to their home page:
www.ancestry.com and type in a name to search with country and county, it
will bring up all the databases with that criteria. At the end of the
census list, click on "View all Results," and if there is a listing
available in 1841, it will bring it up. If you have a subscription, try it.

It doesn't look like they have everything posted or transcribed, however, as
I couldn't find one of my families that I know is in the 1841. Of course,
it may be transcribed incorrectly.
