In the 1901 census Abednego, now an engine winder at one of the collieries
at Ystradyfodwg, Treherbert, is listed as having been born in Calais

The mother had indeed remarried by 1851, to a man called William Anson.
Together with John 20, Richard 17, Shadrach 13, Thomas 10, Mechach 7 and
Abendigo 3 (all spellings as recorded in census) they all lived in Puddlers
Row, Aberystruth, wherever that was! The four youngest boys were all born in
France
