Hi John- I am having the best time ever via your web page and mailing
list. Learning so much that I never ever knew and sharing it with
Abraham's descendants. We are going to have a family reunion the first
since 1980. Haven't found anyone doing the family tree but for the past
few days all I have done is sit here and realize what a small world it
is with lots of very people in it. Is Llanellen the doomed village as
mentioned on the Grover website and is the St Helen Church where I would
find records- What do you mean formerly Monmouthshire-Jan

Dear Jan,

I quote from my e-mail to you dated 12 December 2006:
"Charles James's birthplace is recorded as Monmouthshire, Llanellen.
This is
seven miles west of Raglan, near Abergavenny."

Llanelen is a parish and village in the county of Monmouthshire - see
the
relevant GENUKI webpage:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON/Llanellen/
The parish church is dedicated to St Helen.

You can call up a highly detailed (1:10,560-scale) late 19th century map
of
this area by going to the Old Maps website at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
On the main page, select the "Co-ordinates" option in the search
facility
(near top left of the page). In the search field enter the co-ordinates
330500,210898 (without any spaces) and click the Search button.
When the small map appears, click on the "Enlarged view" button below
the
map. A highly detailed large map of the area will open in a new window,
centred on Llanelen.

Kind regards,

John
