Thanks to the great help from this group and the FreeBMD I managed to
track down the birth record for my ggrandmother. Her name was Caroline
Jones, and her father Thomas Jones. She was born March of 1850. Her
mothers residence is listed on the birth records as Tredegar, Bedwellty.
The 1851 and 1861 census lists the only person that fits, but the
mothers name on both of the census reports is listed as Elizabeth.
However on the birth record the mother is listed as Mary. Everything
else I have fits exactly with all of the other information I have. The
only conclusion I can come to is that the mothers actual name was Mary
Elizabeth, and normally went as Elizabeth. I assume since she was the
one providing the information on the birth record, she gave her first
name. Does this conclusion seem reasonable?
