I am researching the above names of my direct ancestors, details as follows:

Thomas PHILLIPS was born in about 1802 in Newport, Monmouthshire in Wales. A
blacksmith by trade, Thomas PHILLIPS married Mary Ann WILLIAMS in the Parish
of St. Woolas, Newport, in Monmouthshire on 5th May, 1827. Mary Ann was
born in Bassaleg, Monmouthshire in about 1801. At the time of the 1841
census, Thomas and Mary Ann Phillips lived in St Woolas with their eldest
three children - eleven-year old William, nine-year old Thomas and Maryann,
aged three.

Thomas Phillips (senior) died in Newport at some time before
1851. By the time of the 1851 census Mary Ann Phillips was listed as a
fifty-year old widow. As a 'landed proprietor' living in Ebenezer Terrace
in St Woolas, she had four boarders living in her home.

Sarah PHILLIPS, the youngest daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann, left Wales for
Australia at some time before 1858. She married Thomas Morgan on 15th May,
1858 in Castlemaine, Victoria.

At the age of twenty, Thomas PHILLIPS (jnr) born 1832, married Louisa
BROOKS, the twenty-two year old daughter of Benjamin BROOKS and Esther
GEORGE on 6th July, 1852. They were married in the Mill St Chapel in
Newport

At the time of their marriage, Thomas Phillips lived in Hellens Bank in
Newport. Louisa Brooks lived in Stow Hill, Newport. By the time their first
child was born in March, 1853, Thomas and Louisa lived in the Parish of St.
Woolas, in Baneswell Road in Newport.

Children of Thomas and Louisa PHILLIPS: Thomas Walter, Frederick George,
Benjamin William, James John, Oliver, Levi, Arthur, Louisa Jane, Lavina
Jane, and Frank Edgar - born between 1853 and 1868.

By 1861, Thomas and Louisa PHILLIPS and their family had moved
to Brook Road in Risca. The family moved around quite a bit - to Bassaleg,
then Risca, and back to Newport. Thomas Phillips worked as a tiler and
plasterer, and his sons, Benjamin, Levi, Frederick, and Thomas worked as
coal miners.

On 12th March, 1876, Louisa Phillips (nee Brooks) died at the
age of forty-five in her home at 60 St Mary Street in Newport. In the June
quarter of 1878, the widowed Thomas Phillips married Elizabeth Ann EVERETT
in Newport. Elizabeth (known as Ann) was born in Neath, Glamorgan, Wales
in 1849.

Thomas Walter PHILLIPS, the eldest son of Thomas and Louisa, was
born when his parents lived in Baneswell Road in Newport, Monmouthshire on
30th March, 1853. He was baptized in the Parish of St. Woolas on 9th March,
1854.

Thomas Walter PHILLIPS, whose occupation at the time was listed
as a miner, married Alice Ann THOMAS at St. Woolas, on 25th December, 1872.
Alice Ann, born in Newport in December, 1854, was the daughter of John
THOMAS and Maria EVANS, who lived in Market St, Newport at the time of her
birth. John THOMAS was a maltster and brewer at the time.

Is anybody else researching these families? I cannot locate the THOMAS
family in any of the census records!

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I would love to hear
from any descendants of any of these families.

Many thanks for any help.
